What I really love about this and Building iPhone Apps with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript by the same author is the way the content it s organized It s a awsome book recommended for programmer of any level since all code its reviewed and explained step by step.I got my copy and I recommend it

I really ask myself whether the author even bothered to test his app on a real Android device. The truth it does not work The app is based on JQTouch and even the demos on the JQTouch homepage are intended for iphone and do not really work on Android I use Samsung Galaxy S, currently the Android bestseller. The screenshots in the book are not taken on an Android device and I just can t make the pages look like they do in the book Neither in Chrome, Firefox, and certainly not on the Samsung they do [...]

A little out of date now but a great start I already had and learned the companion version from the same author for iOS apps so figured it s an easy learning curve Stark s friendly casual style gets straight to the point The steps no longer apply in the latest tools but you get the idea and the examples are still clear to follow Would be nice if this were updated but appears unlikely at this point.

I had 3 main issues with this book 1 I couldn t get much of the code to work.2 You can t download the full examples anywhere Basically you have to read through the book and make the incremental changes as they occur in the text which is often This gets really annoying Often I found myself questioning if I copied the changes wrong or if the code just didn t work Eventually, after googling and discovering issues other people had I became confident the failure was with the text, not me making copyi [...]

This book was as good as but I was a little disappointed to see how alike the two books were I m afraid I rather felt like I d bought the same book twice. In my opinion, Jonathan would have been better off bringing out a second edition of that incorporated both the iPhone and the Android devices, as well perhaps as the newer iPad and Android tablets.Beyond that, it s an excellent reference for writing HTML5 apps, for using jQtouch and PhoneGap and for uploading to the Market Place.

A good primer for anyone competent in HTML CSS Javascript that needs to adapt their skills and wares to a mobile market Being limited in scope only really partially covers jQTouch and Phonegap and covering technologies that are already well documented, the skilled practitioners could probably pass this title by However, the kindle edition was a good tutorial at a good price, by no means a definitive reference or cookbook.
